Accessible Wetrooms don't have to look clinical

Looking for an accessible wet room that can be used by all the family?

In theory any bathroom or ensuite can be changed into a wet room. The old myth of only being able to do this if you are on the ground floor is just that - an old myth.

In essence the shower tray is under the tiles and the whole room is waterproofed, some people still add in a glass screen to stop the majority of the water spraying all over towels and furniture etc.

Each wetroom or bathroom design we undertake here in Cambridge is custom designed for you and your family.

Wetroom corner shower enclosure

Accessible products are more modern these days and no longer have to have the clinical look that they used to have. Technology has moved on and bespoke shower screens can be made to fold back out of the way rather than a shower curtain.

Our friends at Go Glass down the road, here in Cambridge, can create corner solutions where the doors slide away without effort or a bi-fold screen allowing easy wheelchair access .

Benefits of having a wet room designed by us

  • Add value to your home

Phil Spencer, from Location Location, Location, suggests that “Adding a new bathroom to your home will add an extra 2.88% to the value of it, a wetroom is likely to add even more.”

  • inclusive design

This means that the wet room is designed with all the family in mind regardless of their age or ability, creating a truly accessible wetroom.

  • Design flexibility

We use Impey Wetroom products, as this gives us 4 different drainage options depending upon your room, allowing us to put the wetroom tray virtually anywhere in the wet room.

  • spacious feel

By having the floor all the same, without the break for the shower tray, gives the wet room a more spacious feel. By having minimal glass screens and not a shower enclosure also helps the sense of space due to the clean minimal lines.

  • bespoke design

Future-proofing and improving the accessibility of your home doesn’t have to mean specialist equipment or the white/blue plastic hand rails. Much can be done now with cleverly placed products. The rails to steady yourself are now available in chrome, satin steel, matt black and brass so can match the rest of your new bathroom. Slip-resistant tiles are becoming more popular than slip-resistant flooring so it has less of a clinical feel.

  • bring your vision to life

After either a visit to your home to measure and discuss or by a visit to our showroom with your measurements, we will create a 3D render to enable you to visualise how your new wet room could look. We offer a full “turn-key” package of design, supply and install or if you wish we could just design and supply the product for your own installer.

VAT relief for your bathroom adaptations

Many people do not realise that they may qualify for VAT relief when improving the accessibility of their bathroom. This is a big project and the VAT relief can make big difference in the cost.

If you are disabled, or have a long term condition you may be eligible to have your wetroom supplied and installed VAT free.
